Jaren Alaimoana was a double Silver Medalist at the Wrestling Canada Lutte Championships. Silver in the U19 Menโs Freestyle and in the U19 Menโs Greco-Roman wrestling. ย
Grande Prairie Wrestling Club teammate Hayden Cooke earned 4thย in the U19 Menโs Greco-Roman & 6th in the U19 Menโs Freestyle. Toby Gustafson finished 6th U17 Menโs Freestyle and Ava-Jade Showalter was 5th in the U15 Womenโs Freestyle.
School Sport Alberta Provincial Champion was Emmet Chiasson in the Boys 120kg division representing the St. Joseph Catholic High School.
Jaren Alaimoana won the Championship in the Boys 98kg division representing the Grande Prairie Composite High School.

At the 2026 Speedo Canadian Swimming Open, Oliver Dawson set new records in the 50m breaststroke (27.46 seconds) including a Canadian Swimming Open record, Canadian Age Group record, and Alberta Provincial Senior record. Oliverโs time was just 0.01 second off the 2009 record set by Scott Dickens.
He also set a new Canadian Swimming Open record and Alberta Provincial Senior record in the 100m breaststroke (1:00.20). On top of that, Oliver swam to a new Personal Best in the 200m breaststroke (2:09.52), which is the second fastest in Canadian records. Itโs currently held by Olympian Mike Brown who swam to 4th place at the 2008 Beijing Olympics (2:08.84).
Strongman
Jeremy Patfield earned the title of Albertaโs Strongest in the U90kg division last season and won Second at Canadian Nationals, plus 2nd Place at Canadaโs first ever U90 ProAm Invitational.
Jeremy finished in the Top 20 at the 2026 Arnold Strongman Classic, known for strength-based events that are heavier and more static rather than speed and mobility. Jeremy has completed a 630lb Frame Carry for 80 feet and a180lb Circus Dumbbell lift. Heโs coached by Ernie Stewart at V02Max.

Carter Kettyle of Grovedale was picked in the third round of the CFL draft by the Edmonton Elks Football Club. As a Wide Receiver, he was one of 82 athletes who attended the 2026 CFL Combine to showcase his skills leading up to the draft. Carter was the 2019 Junior Male Athlete of the Year at the Northwest Alberta Sport Excellence Awards (now known as the Grande Prairie Subaru Sport Excellence Awards) and a former St. Joeโs Celtics football athlete.

Matthew Ljuden of Grande Prairie is an Offensive Linesman and was also drafted by the Edmonton Elks.
In high school he played with the St. Joeโs Celtics and currently plays with the University of Alberta Golden Bears.

National Champions! Kacey McLeod and Taylor Wasylchew won the 2026 Esso Cup – U18 Female Hockey Canadian Club Championship playing with the Red Deer Sutter Fund Chiefs. Locally, both athletes play with Grande Prairieโs Peace Country Female Athletic Club.

Dylan Francis (of Grande Prairie) was an Official for the Hockey Alberta Cup featuring the top U15 male athletes.
C-aira Stucklschwaiger (of Fairview) was named as an Official for the Hockey Alberta Challenge featuring the top U16 female athletes.
Freestyle Skiing
Lucas Greening skiied to triple Gold this season in Slopestyle and double Bronze in Moguls.
He trains with the Northern Extreme Freestyle Ski Team on the hill at Nitehawk Year-Round Adventure Park.

At the Arctic Winter Games in Whitehorse, the U19 Menโs team earned a Gold Ulu. The U19 Womenโs team won the Silver Ulu. At the Arctic Winter Games in Whitehorse, Yukon, Winnie Udey earned a spot on the podium four times.
She won Silver Ulus in the U15 Female 5km and 2.5km individual races as well as the U15 Mixed Relay. Winnie also earned a Bronze Ulu in the U15/U19 Female Relay.

Alberta Provincial Champions. The Worsley Wildcats Senior Boys won the School Sport Alberta 1A Provincial Basketball Championships. The Worsley Wildcats are a joint team between Worsley Central School and Menno Simons Community School, coached by Chris Kamphuis & Abe Giesbrecht.

Katelyn Siebert was the All-Round Champion at the Western Canadian Artistic Gymnastics Championships in the Level 8 division for 11 โ 14 year olds. Sheโs the first Grande Prairie athlete to win the all-around title at Western Canadian Championships since Coach Sara in 2011! Katelyn also won Bronze for her Floor and Beam routines, as well as Gold in the Team rankings. At the Alberta Artistic Gymnastics Championships, Katelyn won Gold for her Beam routine and was the All-Around Champion for Level 8.

Grande Prairie Gymnastics’ Preslee Peterson won Silver All-Around for Level 8, including a Gold for her Floor routine, plus the Best Artistry award.
In the Level 6 division Keanna Deschene-Dool and Evelyn Hojka both earned Silver All-Around in Level 6. Evelyn won Gold on Vault and earned recognition for the Most Dynamic Vault. Bristelle Kaiser won Bronze All-Around as well as Best Artistry on Beam and Floor.

At the Canadian Masters Curling Championships, Team Alberta skipped by Kurt Balderston won Silver.
In March they won the Alberta Masters Provincial Championships.
